University security directors have spent years making the operational case for better technology. Faster response times, better Clery Act documentation, wider overnight coverage, less exposure in the parking lots and pathways where incidents concentrate. The security case is strong. It's also not always the argument that moves budget.


The argument that moves budget at a university is ROI. A chief financial officer, a provost, or a board of trustees approving a significant investment in autonomous drone security needs to understand not just what the technology does, but what it prevents, what it costs relative to the alternatives, and what the liability exposure looks like if the investment isn't made.


That case is getting easier to make.
